Shipping flies to & from foreign countries
United Kingdom - England
To UK and England: US Post airmail is recommended
Notes on other shipping methods: FedEx reportedly no longer ships fruit flies to UK.
From UK and England: A USDA import permit is needed. The FedEx shipment should include a Courtesy Permit and Letter of No Jurisdiction.
Instructions for sender:
1. Print off 2 copies of the courtesy permit, and 2 copies of the corresponding Letter of No Jurisdiction.
2. Address the shipment directly to the holder of the permit using the name and address found above which will also match the name and address on the courtesy permit.
3. Include a standard customs declaration listing the contents as “Drosophila melanogaster. Live insects for research. See attached USDA import permit.” Shipper may also require a commercial Invoice and an International Way Bill.
4. Include one copy of the permit, the Letter of No Jurisdiction, and a customs declaration in a plastic pouch on the outside of the package with the other shipping materials needed. Place the additional copy of each document inside the package in case the pouch is accidentally removed.
